The Leicestershire Round

A ring around the best of Leicestershire, and it shows a side of the county that is too often missed. If your idea of Leicestershire is the worked-out coal fields or the back end of Leicester on a Saturday night, you have not seen a fraction of it.

This is a Midlands county with few great hills (though I recommend the gentle climb up Bardon Hill, the county top). It has farms and meadows, and pretty villages. The spring and summer display it to its best. The Leicestershire Round is a 102-mile route around the county’s best countryside, and taking in those rejoined and replanted woodlands know as ‘the National Forest’.
