South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands

Location: 54° 22' 3" S 36° 37' 33" W
rising to 2323 m in Allardyce Range, N of Christophersen Glacier, may have been sighted by Cook in 1775 and described as Sugar Loaf Peak; Sugarloaf Peak following fixation of its position by Discovery Investigations in 1927. Following the South Georgia Survey, 1951-52, the peak was named Mount Sugartop in accordance with local usage. The peak was first climbed by the Combined Services Expedition to South Georgia on 4 January 1965.
