rising to 1635m in Sweeney Mountains (q.v.), was seen from the air by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition, 21 November 1947, and named after Cdr Edward C. Sweeney, the United States Navy Reserve, of Washington, DC, a contributor to the expedition.
