flowing SE into George VI Sound between Waitabit Cliffs and Keystone Cliffs, E Alexander Island, was partially photographed from the air by Ellsworth, 23 November 1935, and roughly surveyed from the ground by the British Graham Land Expedition in 1936; photographed from the air by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition in 1947 and re-surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from 'Stonington Island', 1948-49; in association with the names of planets in this area, named after Mercury.
