Location: 63° 45' 58" S 58° W
NW side of Prince Gustav Channel off Russell East Glacier, Trinity Peninsula, was not mapped by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition during the original survey of the channel in 1903; surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from 'Hope Bay' in August 1945 and so named from its shape. The island was photographed from the air by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition, 1956-57, and further surveyed from the ground by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from 'Hope Bay', 1959-60.
