Location: 71° 1' 4" S 69° 3' 20" W
running N-S from Snick Pass to Uranus Glacier, E Alexander Island, rising to c. 2000m and including Stellar Crests and Grikurov Ridge, was very roughly positioned by the British Graham Land Expedition in 1936-37; photographed from the air by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition, 3 December 1947, and called U.S. Army Range; later named Le May Range after Gen. Curtis Emerson LeMay, USAF (1906-90), in 1947 Head, Office of Research and Development, USAAF, which furnished equipment for the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition; Chief of Staff, USAF, 1961-65. The range was mapped from the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition air photographs by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1959.
