
Hersilia Cove
(Rugged Island)

Location: 62° 37' 30" S 61° 12' 31" W
at NE end of Rugged Island, off New Plymouth, Livingston Island, was charted by Capt. J.P. Sheffield (Cape Sheffield, q.v.) and named after his ship, the brig Hersilia from Stonington, which visited the South Shetland Islands, 1819-20 and 1820-21, and used this cove for anchorage. The cove was photographed from the air by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition, 1956-57, and surveyed from the ground by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey, 1958-59.
