Copper Peak
(Osterrieth Range)
British Antarctic Territory
Location: 64° 43' 14" S 63° 20' 26" W
rising to 1125m NE of Börgen Bay, Anvers Island, was sighted by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition in February 1898; roughly surveyed by Discovery Investigations, 1925-27, and named probably after the usage of whalers, following the collection in about 1918 of a rich sample of copper ore nearby. The peak was resurveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from 'Arthur Harbour' in 1955. Green Spur, in allusion to its greenish colour caused by copper minerals.
